The Twinkling Star

by Tainted Butterfly   Feb 17, 2005

I wished upon a star one night
Embracing its twinkle and its light
I had in mind a question to ask
Why does everyone wear a mask?
I wondered how it had so much control
Over a person's being and their very soul.
The mask had many secrets hid
FOr it knew of my feelings and all that I did.
It kept me safe and secure inside
It was the only who knew what I had to hide.
It covered up who I really wanted to be.
A person who was loved for the real me.
The mask had lured my spirit into a dark cave.
Buried it deep in my body in a sad lonely grave.
It has lived my life as a terrible lie
So that night I gave up the mask and said goodbye.
In the end we all learn who we really are
A spirit waiting to be free like the twinkling star.
