The Death of Whatever

The Death of Whatever

“Whatever ....”
Her gaze passed through me
As she spoke this word.
It seemed to say
I can accommodate to this thing
From you.

I think her intent was good –
She offered consent and freedom to be,
Yet it left a deathly pallor
On her face
As well as, I felt,
On mine.

“Whatever....”
It threw a shroud
Over the issues between us
Yet it left an uncomfortable awareness
That we had not resolved
Our differences.

“Whatever....”
I do not like this word very much.
I want more from you – yes more –
Perhaps tears or pleading if that becomes necessary.
Let us make a pact to live fully together
And never give life to “whatever” again.

Great Writing Lots of meaning....My sister and I have a laugh over this word whatever as basically it's passive aggressive....and means ___you but it's okay......
Your explanation is much nicer.....the comprimise is clear
