Dusty Doll Alone On The Shelf

by Sarah Ashley   Feb 18, 2005

I'm just a doll on this shelf
with no one to talk to but myself
I sit and stare at the little girl down there
Will she ever take me down and brush my hair
I'm just a doll with no expression on my face
Siting here in this dark and dusty place
Years go by and if I could I would cry
as she plays with every other doll but me
I need to make her see
that I'm just as good as them
even though my dress has a torn hem
Every morning each doll gets a kiss
Each doll but me
I'm the doll way up high on the shelf ... not hard to miss
Can you see me
I'm the one that looks brand new
because i sit here and watch the others being told "I love you"
I sit here and collect dust on my dress
with no one here to feel sorry for me
Forever alone i will be

---What inspired the dolls? Well i have this doll that i never played with so i decided to write about the feeling of being alone through a dolls eyes. I know weird but i think it's cool.---
