Staying Alive with Life

Had I ever seen the sun or was the moon always in the way?
Did I see the world before it collapsed?
Looking behind at the worlds I’ve passed through
So much anguish, so much to find and yet so much time has elapsed

I’m worrying about the past and forgetting my future
I walked beside each tree, wishing for another life
A way to walk unscathed by the wounds love makes
Protective armour needed, someone to help me through the strife

You brought me back from beyond life, so much further than death
All I am sure of in life is death
But my story has fake endings, many twists and turns
Can I live another moment? I can only hold my breath
And wait
