Sending Flowers Through Time

by Brian John   Feb 20, 2005

Great genious gene of mine
I take a sip of my wine
Demand rhyme
And listen, learn
Let a little lucky loser look as if he is standing next to a friend of mine

It is fate furious heroine
Hi, take a sip of my mind
And find what you have been missing
Kissing is something we could do
We can do no wrong
Sing no song too profound, too outrageous, to have to stop and flee
And together we can be
For every moment until we decide the moment is over
But you won't wear out and wilt like the flowers I should have given you a million times

You took my broken heart and taught me to love again.
I let you know how bad you hurt me the way your Spring Break fling brought us crashing to an end

Now, years later, I realize how bad you needed the flowers I did not deliver. I wonder if they could have saved us?

These flowers cannot pass through time
I cannot heal our wounds with rhyme
I am sorry that it took so long
That our love has become something like a sad song and a memory
That I blamed you for quitting on me
I think it was me who refused your apology
And whether or not you think of me with the new life you are living
You deserve to know that you are completely forgiven

It is fate furious heroine
Please take a sip of my mind
And find what you have been missing
And together we can be
In eachother's hearts
For every moment until we decide the moment is over
Me as these flowers
And you as my four-leaf clover

(For the second love of my life- the impossibly difficult Irish beauty. She remains both the sweetest Angel and the toughest Bitc_ I have ever had the pleasure to know.)
