Our 8th Grade Song

by EpithetPoet   Feb 21, 2005

Such a young life
That heaven has called
Left His faithful minions
Estranged and appauled

This girl was my peer
Made me laugh not cry
This girl was my friend
Why did she need to die?

Why was she chosen
To be plagued by AIDS?
Knowing that the disease
Would never fade

She was brilliant
Caring and kind
Always let people know
What was on her mind

One day she was singing
The next she was gone
Singing out a memory
From our eigth grade song

Went to her funeral
So hot and bleak
Saw her dad crying
Felt so small and weak

Went up to the altar
Knew just one thing to say
To keep her memory living
Each and every day

\\\"We are the girls
You wont know well
Cause if you touch us
Send you straight to Hell\\\"

\\\"We are the girls
Who arent afraid to fight
Not afraid to do what\\\'s wrong
But know what\\\'s right\\\"

"We are the girls
Who laugh and sing
Who simply make fun
Of everything"

"We are the girls
Of the 8th grade class
And if you dont like it
You can kiss my ass"

People were laughing
Her dad's frown was gone
Then i knew
Her laughter would live on

*Dedicated to my friend Caitlin Hall who died Christmas of 2003 from AIDS.*
