Seeing Is Believing

I want to see beyond this
Warped view I hold
I want to open my eyes
Want to see, not be told

That there is something
Out there worthwhile
Something, anything that
Can really make me smile

Not someone else’s
Recollection of a good day
But my own to hold and know
That life can be okay

Because all I have is words
From other people’s tongue
And I sit, growing impatient
Wishing it had already begun

Wishing that I, too could know
Beyond doubt that joy, bliss, care
Can really be achieved because
I really don’t believe it’s out there.
