Trust

by Carmen   Feb 22, 2005

I thought I could trust you,
But now I know that's not true.
I thought you were my friend,
My heart you can no longer mend.

I told you my secrets,
But now I just have regrets.
I told you I can't take it,
Your lies are making me sick.

I kept it all inside,
But I can no longer hide.
I used to give in to your threats,
My hope no longer met.

How could you do this?
I ask, as I kiss
Our friendship goodbye.
All I can do now is sigh.

I sit and remember,
Our friendship so tender,
I never thought it could be ruined by anything,
But it ended up just like a summer fling.

Here I will send,
My farewells, so, my friend,
Goodbye, and this I must,
Tell you that you destroyed my trust.

Nice poem, though some of the rhyming sounds forced. Keep it up
