Whispered

by Jacklyn   Feb 26, 2005

He held me close,
He held me tight,
He told me that everything was going to be alright,

He held me till I was calm,
Until the sunset and the day was done,
Until my tears were dry,
Until I no longer cried,

When I scraped my knee,
When I fell off my bike,
He held me then,
And still holds me now,

He would hold me close,
Would hold me tight,
Always told me that everything is going to be alright,

After my first boyfriend,
After I did not make the team,
All those times I found disappointment,
He was always there to hold me,

When innocence was lost,
When green valleys turned brown,
In a life I found liars, backstabbers and death,
He was even their to hold me then,

Gave me the power to say no to drugs,
To keep my chin up,
Gave me the power to keep me from droning,
In a ocean full of evil and hate,

But with age we grew apart,
He went to college out of state,
I still had high school to graduate,
Time flew by and 4 years were gone,

Depression sunk in,
Both parents I lost in one car accident,
He was not there when I cried,
He was not by my side,
His place nobody could take,
Loneliness and pain,
Alone I could not take,

So I open the medicine,
Took as many as I could,
Then blacked out and fell down,

Woke up expecting Hell,
Surrounded by white walls,
And IVs in my skin,
Hell this couldn’t be, no flames surrounding me,

I lived, which I could not believe,
I sat up in my bed,
Then a hug I received,

"Everything is going to be alright" he whispered to me.

~i do not know it is just more based off of how i have known this one guy all my life, ~

This is excellent-so very well written. It tells a story, it is a love poem a friendship piece, and so much more.Excellent structure(could use a couple touch ups) but the emotion you convey is so real and powerful. The repeating lines of 'Everything is going to be alright' is repeated just enough to give the piece a smoother flow and again, more emotional impact and amidst the despair, that line especially at the end leaves things with a glimmer of hope.Great piece all the way around.
