Longing To Be With You

Longing To Be With You

I’m talking to you on the phone right now,
You’re in a far off place.
I’d give all I have to give and more,
Just to see you face to face.

I wish that I could change the many miles
in between us down to one.
Or even better if I could,
I’d make the distance none.

I think about you constantly,
You’re always on my mind.
I see you in my dreams at night,
but sadly wake to find,

that you are not here next to me,
that you aren’t in my arms,
and what I dreamt were wedding bells,
turned out to be alarms.

I love, adore, and care for you,
Believe me, this is true,
Trust me when I say
the only one for me is you.

I know at times you question,
if my love for you is real,
I’ll let you know my body wouldn’t
let me falsely feel.

My heart wouldn’t lie to me,
It’s always told the truth.
Now I know that you’re the one,
I dreamt of in my youth.

I want, I yearn, I long for you.
I need you in my life,
The pain I feel without you here,
Has caused me so much strife.

Push on with life is what I’ll do,
Until we finally meet.
And when we do at last I’ll know,
That my life is complete.
