Forgive Me

by EpithetPoet   Feb 27, 2005

As a child
I always prayed
Forgiving my sins
My soul would be saved

Along with innocence
My prayers died
Smothering the child
Left inside

Abandoned wisdom
Opted for a blade
Leaving a soul
Willing to trade

Face pale and gaunt
Model of death
Friends contemplate, whisper
Devour their meth

More drugs than food
Consumed in a day
Slendering stick figure
Turning skin gray

Blade sunk too deep
Start to cry
Put hands together
Slowly die

Lord forgive my sins
My pitiful life
Forgive my death
Done by my knife
