The Prophet's Wisdom

by Keith   Feb 28, 2005

The winds were howling,
The dog would bark,
The skies were blackened,
The air was dark,

The evening was darkening,
The skies were growing black,
My eyes were filled with sadness,
For happiness my life would lack,

My heart craves love,
Like the howling winds,
My soul would scream,
For all that I've sinned,

My head would pound,
Like the dogs bark,
My life was fading,
It was growing dark,

One dark morning,
I had a visitor,
I had not caught his name,
He was already inside the door,

Not knowing what to do,
I offered him some tea,
He agreed with my suggestion,
As he gazed upon me,

"Your not happy?"
He sensed my pain,
"No, My world is painful,
like acid rain"

"I see, I see,"
He said with a smile,
"Come sit down at the table,
I'll make it worthwhile,"

For the next three hours,
He talked to me of life,
He told me what love is,
He tried to end my strife,

"Do you believe in anything?
anything of which you said?"
He took off his wool hat,
And began to rub his head,

"I do, Son"
for it is I who know its true,
I've been in your world before,
though it was bad, I managed to subdue,

We stayed up and talked,
All night long,
We ate dinner,
I finally felt that I belong,

His wisdom shocked me,
He spoke of above,
He spoke of the angels,
He told me of true love,

In my mind he a prophet,
Who new great tales,
He rescued me of my dark life,
Sadness on, He had placed curtails,

We talked late into the morning,
And finally set on his way,
To spread the word of happiness,
Just like he did today,

Well I think this poem should end my long period of inactiveness on P&Q - Hopefully it is an inspiration to anyone who enjoys reading and writing about life. Please vote and comment, I'll do t he same for your poems. Also, Just a question, Some of my previous poems are quite... bad? I was just wondering if I should delete all of the bad ones and start over with just good ones? Any thoughts?
