Idiocy

by Chris Young   Mar 1, 2005

We all play the game, inside we feel so much better,
than all those around us but do we bother to thank them,
to thank them for their help?

they made us what we are, put us in our place,
and rage is all the return we give,
what the heck?
"you insolent whelp"

pipe up my friend, give me a hand,
how the heck can I make it alone?
use the gifts that I'm given to make up my mind,
to crush the retardation I find,
and no matter the effort I make to be better...
my idiocy survives.

when we hear from within,
a voice just a whisper,
"so timid and scant,
so weak like our souls"
do we bother to listen?
to hear stifled pleas?
"or do we ignore them,
laugh as they fall to their knees?"
and that my friend,
and that my dear,
"is what we've become"

one big bloody idiot, wrapped tight in a ball of hate,
colossus of all we deem our lives, what the heck, is there nothing left?
open ourselves to a world so harsh, so harsh that none survive,
leave the safety of personal knowledge, to hope for a taste-test of life.

those little bits, a morsel of happiness, is it worth it?
the chance to be joyous and healthy within, for scant pleasures,
pleasures ultimately lost and a gap where our sanity resides.
a piece is gone, larger for some, but a portion just the same.

pipe up my friend, give me your hand,
I never could make it alone,
grant me the use of my gifts to make up my mind,
to remove the retardation I find,
because no matter the effort I make to be better,
my idiocy survives.

"I am here for you, weak child I find,
you never could make it alone,
I pamper and cleanse the shit left behind,
subtle bloody voice: goodbye.
a line so simple with just the right ring,
your idiocy is king.

- basically, we treat each other all so very poorly. The use of our ability to ignore our own personal greed is idiotic in nature even though we have lived this way for debatably all of human history. Try as we may to remove it, that tendency toward greed always seems to survive: lets give it another try though eh?

I agree with you entirely. It merely seems a little sad, considering each of us is capable of that elusive angelic side, that so few people have yet to find it: and more importantly, express it freely. Thank you very much for your comment.
