Our world 2

I walk along an empty street
Listening to the sound of my feet
Making sounds on the broken floor
No-one to hear me anymore

Broken down cars lying, dusty and cold
Decaying food, covered in mould
Houses with smashed and ruined doors
People not caring anymore

A teenager hangs from their bedroom ceiling
No longer caring, No longer feeling
A parent, leaving their broken home
Wanting to be on their own

A girl who's father beat and raped her
A woman who's husband went and left her
A boy who's mum and dad are dead
Sniffing solvents to escape his head

I walk along seeing people crying
Watching their loved ones, tortured or dying
Is this the way our world is meant to be
People living unhappily

An old lady living on her own
Crying because she's on all alone
Missing her husband missing his touch
Wanting some company so so much

A man lying on a cold park bench
On his body I can smell the stench
Of cigarettes and of course of beer
What on earth is he doing here?

My footsteps getting faster now
These awful sights, my mind does cloud
People drowning in their pain
Coming down, like falling rain

To the help lines they try to call
When they stumble, when they fall
When life gets on top of them
And they want to die again

But these people, they don’t listen
They can’t see the blood that glistens
From a teenager who self harms
Terrible scars run up their arms

They cut every night, and every day
They don’t know any other way
Taking crack and taking dope
This is their new way to cope

Until that fateful day arrives
And they take the bloodstained knives
Slit their throat standing in the loos
Teachers haven’t got a clue

Until they find the pool of blood
From the bathroom it has flood
Giant bloodstains on the ground
The teenager does not make a sound

The people who’s houses have been bombed
In their thousands they do come
A little girl who’s parents died
She has not had the time to cry

She is an innocent wounded in war
She does not know what the fighting’s for
So she wanders on her own
Never do you hear her moan

As she lives life on the street
Wandering round with her bare feet
Looking for a bit of care
People ignore her standing there

Or a man who’s wife has given birth
To a beautiful baby, who can’t take a breath
His wife died to he lost them all
He has nobody left to call

His little girl was taken away
His wife was too, all in one day
And as he stands there by their sides
He only feels sadness on the inside

Presidents dropping nuclear bombs
People’s houses down they come
Notice it’s not the rich who die
It’s not them who we see cry

They are not the ones who are killed
Their family’s lives are never filled
With watching people dying all around
Watch their mother shot down to the ground

We pollute our atmosphere with cars
Car manufacturers should be behind bars
Destroying the world we are living in
Our beautiful planet has been ruined

As nature dies from global warming
We did not listen to her warnings
So we have scarred our only land
Will she forgive and understand?

This is our world an awful mess
We humans who destroy things best
Have hurt the land with war and fights
Blackened feelings dark as night

A world of our own, which is so dark
People on benches in the park
Teenagers committing suicide
Parents watching children die

Why is the world such a state
Why this pain do we create
The only person who can answer is you
For this world is your world, your world too……
