Endings

Endings

It feels as if eternity,
had come and then gone by,
since the last time that we were together,
since last I saw your eye.

I?ve thought about you everyday,
and many sleepless nights.
I wish I could undo my errors,
and prevented all those fights.

All the good times that we had,
Those endless days together,
And when we'd stay in and watch a movie,
During the rainy weather,

Those memories etched in my mind,
Locked up and put away,
They just remind me of what I lack,
That you're not here today.

I'm told, by all, to accept,
the fact that you are gone.
But it's the last thing that I said to you,
before you had passed on.

I wish I told you that I love you!
Lord I wish I had!
Instead of being angry with you,
And you leave thinking I'm mad.

I yelled at you, "Just go away!"
You left and slammed the door,
I heard your car start and drive away,
But you wouldn't get too far.

I got a call later that night,
Telling me what I thought could not be real.
But it was true and in the end,
a trucker, asleep at the wheel.

If only I could turn back time,
and say things differently!
To let you know how much I care!
And what you mean to me!

I?m thinking of you even now,
And again can't keep my composure.
And this will go on forever,
As I will never have closure.

For those of you reading this poem,
I beg of you heed my words.
Don't leave you're love ones on a bad note,
Let your love be heard.

For you don't know what may happen,
Any moment from now,
A loved one could be taken from you
Even if you can't imagine how.

If ever in an arguement,
or even a petty fight,
before you part, put aside the anger,
and make sure you two leave right.

Tell him or her that though you're angry,
You really do still care.
And make sure that they leave knowing,
That there is love still there!

I leave you now with these words,
Think of it as advice.
Is what you're fighting about important?
Perhaps you should think twice.
