Damn...um, hope this isnt art from life situation. Yeah, the strong language brings out a certain realness to it...unless of course its not real, then it'll take away from it.

Yes Bob, that is me in the profile... why he beat, I don't know. I guess that is a question that he will have to answer to our maker.

Thanks for all your encouragement that you have given me, both in email and on the site.

I truly hope you have the best of it all babe, you deserve it.

this poem reminds me of my childhood. My father was very abusive. I appreciate this poem....hopefully one day you'll be able to express such feelings with less rage....confronting issues and dealing with them is a wonderful way to heal your wounds.

Oh, yeah! I'm not usually one to push my poems on other's, but I think you'd relate to my poem "Love's Treacherous Grave"! It's written along the same line, only not from my point of view! One of my mom's friends had an abusive husband....Take care~Holly

Sherry, this is a very good poem... well written and I'm sure it is part of the healing process. I am VERY happy to hear you are not with him any longer. GOOD FOR YOU!!! :o)
I can relate to this so well. We lived in South Africa when I was younger and the man ( I use that term loosly) my mother was married to used to beat her almost daily. It was nothing to come home from playing and see blood all over the walls and floors. Since we were there on his visa we couldn't leave. My mom slept with a butcher knife under her pillow. Thank God, somehow my grandfather got us back to the United States. I think men who abuse their wives are lowly cowards. I don't think anyone has the right to lay their hands on another.
Anyway I am really sorry you had to live this way, but also happy you are out of the situation now. ENJOY YOUR LIFE!!!
Take care and God bless you!!

The poem was a powerful peice I must say. But i think if you took out some od the cursing and used alternitive words that envoke the same message it would be more powerful. Just an opinion...

one thing I like about your poems is the way u draw your emotion, it allows the reader to in your shoes in a way, the only thing that I could say to work on is your chose of words, u paint a good picture, By choosing different words one place detail in their work
