Consequences

by ~*^*~ longing to belong ~*^*~   Mar 2, 2005

Consequences:
The results of our actions
Strange instances
The weird reactions
Forget to do something
And something else is forgotten
Remember that something
And something else is remembered.

Like that girl in America
Mary I think was her name
She ran one day, into an old friend
Relighting emotion’s long forgotten flame
During the course of the reunion
Mary forgot the task-in-hand
Omitting to remember to send
Invites to the party she’d planned
She had been organising
A celebration, a commemoration
For a few select friends
A reward for abstention
All had been cold turkey
For a few weeks previously
But because of Mary’s blunder
There was to be no party
Instead, on the night of the ‘Do’
Whilst Mary was in a land of her own
With the invites left unanswered
The druggies went out for a roam
They searched the streets
All over the counties
Searching for substances
To fill their cavities
The ‘sniffers’ to their glue
The ‘alkies’ to their drink
The Heroin takers to their needles
Into recession they all did sink
Of the thirty people Mary invited
To the party-that-never-took-place
She only ever again saw
One single persons face
The rest all went
Their separate ways
In the worlds shadow
They ended their days
All were left lonely
With no hope of a future
All because of
One
Simple
Blunder
