Nothing is What it Seems

by Andrea   Mar 2, 2005

The angry night chills my face.
Standing in the middle of nowhere,
Only the darkness can judge me.
Pain is what I have left to share.

The once illuminous stars become dull.
As I continue lost in thought,
They seem to fade and disappear,
Giving up on my tears they fought.

I shut my eyes tightly
--Still I hear the screams
The horrible moment plays in my mind.
"Nothing is what it seems."

The crescent moon shines and tries to guide.
It moves along to find me.
I try to follow but my legs are numb.
My body screams to be free.

Leaving without me like the stars,
I am left alone in the darkness.
No shred of light, just lost in pity.
My fate is of condemned happiness.

Unexplainable pain consumes my wrists.
Old scars are ripped open with fresh blood.
Torment of hell has met its match,
As I float lifelessly in my own crimson flood.

Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!
My conscience yells at me nervously.
I open my eyes staring at my wrist.
The blade I must've dropped unintentionally.

I hear the breaking of glass again.
--Still the same from before I collapsed.
Oh no! Frightened as my dad nears,
I slammed the door shut hoping it'd last.

I close my eyes tightly again,
Covering my ears to hide the screams.
This horrible moment will not leave.
"Nothing is what it seems."

*This was last night....we'll find out what happens tonight....kinda scared though. When this happened, thats all I could say just trying to convice myself this wasn't happening again, "nothing is what it seems" I guess I need to realize everything is what it seems in this house.*

Andrea I really hope things get better for you. I am so sorry to hear the way things are. I know I am a lot older than you but I really have a heart for younger people. If you ever need to talk to someone I promise I will be here. You may be surprised at the things that we may have in common.
This poem was beautifully written but very very sad. I just wish I could reach out and give you a great big hug. Just remember... there's a better life ahead.
I had a pretty rough life myself, but now I have a very wonderful life. Keep your head & your faith up.
Check out my poem "forever changed"
Take care & God bless you!!
