Suicide V. Life = Satan V. God

Just when I thought I’d solved the debate
I remembered that death will one day come
I wonder why should I wait?
When tonight it could be over and done.

I sit on the bus, contemplating
Life or death, a fight or a short cut?
Here is my question again, I’m hesitating
I feel a need, a pull to give in, but …

Something has changed, something new
I turn away from my grief and despair
And I pray to God to see me through
To cleanse me, and be there

He answered with a wave of calm
A warm fire lit inside, and I smiled
I cursed Satan, for tempting me with harm …
But thanked God, for I am His child

And each time in the future that I grieve
That I feel overcome by despair
I must turn from the misery, I mustn’t leave
It’s only Satan. I shall pray, and God shall be there.
