He’ll Never Know

When they met it was nothing
They never thought it’d turn out to be something
But it did
Something incredible
Something everyone needs but she has
It was fate

They talked, they wrote
They shared everything
Their deepest secrets
Their biggest regrets
It was more than she could ask for
It was friendship; a choice

They did everything together
You couldn't keep them apart
and then it happened
She fell for him and he fell for someone else
She tried to tell him but she never could
It was one-sided love; unstoppable, uncontrollable

She regretted not saying anything soon enough
She was always too late in life
She prayed something would happen and then it did
He was free and she was happy
But she never got the courage
To tell him how she felt

She knew he would never feel the same
but still she wanted to know and wanted him to know
It never happened though
She never told him
and still she wonders
But she’ll never know

It’s deep down inside her
Just waiting to come out
But she doesn’t have the strength
Just fear holding her back
Still longing for the love
She can’t seem to say it

Now he’ll never know…
