Crash And Burn

by Ben   Mar 6, 2005

The dark silence of the dread of night
Is shattered – pierced by the head lights
Gripped around the steering wheel
Knuckles tensed – pulsing white

The wheels hit the road with a thud
A thud as loud as his racing heart
The black shadow slides around a corner
His life will end as quickly as it will start

The sweat on the drivers face
Matches that on the shifter
His wet hair hangs over his face
Memories fly through his mind with such disgrace

Remembering the way things were
Salty tears roll down his cheeks
Anger rises within with the thought of her
N more love will he seek

After being hurt too many times
The fear of it happening again is too much to bare
With the anger, shame rises within
Death is the only escape for him

Through the wind shield, past the rain
In the high beam, he sees her face
The care goes faster now, matching his hearts pace
Never felt complete – now feeling the pain

The rubber slides on the bitumen
Misjudging a turn
To fast to stop the way things are headed
Just as his love ended – he will crash and burn
