Texan man in London

by Daniel J   Mar 6, 2005

I live in London,
Not far from the Queen,
which is why i'm amazed at what i've just seen.

This is the sight,
which gave me a fright,
and put me directly into a plight.

'Twas upon the tubes,
on my daily commute,
when i saw a Texan complete with a suit.

He wore a large hat,
as in the Texan style,
and upon the tube seat he was now sat.

That's when i noticed,
the boots which he wore,
but aren't those stirrups against the law?

tassels he sported,
on the side of his trousers -
but being a Texan they'd be called "pants"

the only thing missing,
and quite rightly so,
would be a dark horse and a trusty lasso.

He looked so funny,
so out of place,
with that bow which he wore under his face.

He sat near a man,
with a briefcase to hand,
who promptly got up and proceeded to stand.

For who would have thought,
that upon the tube,
the Texan styles a man would sport?

O Texan man,
most welcome you are,
but the clothes which you wore: they won't get you far.

For as I alighted,
I was most delighted,
that it started to snow.

But the Texan man,
with his desert clothes wan,
won't last a span!

That actually happened. I thought it was so out of place!! Just had to write a poem about it. It's like a Scottish man wearing a kilt (exactly like a skirt) in a place where men don't generally wear red skirts :p.
