One Last Breathe

by Leah   Mar 7, 2005

My heart is beating, slowly, not fast,
How must longer, will it take, for my spirit to rise up to heaven at last?

How many more breathes do I have to take, in and out,

How much time is left, what is life truly about?

How much more blood, is going to pour into my hair,
When I'm in my casket, will anyone be watching to stare?

Will you be there in a front row seat,

My heart can rest, it won't have to beat...

How many more minutes,

More hours,

How much more dew, dripping off dead flowers?

How much longer, until I take my last breathe,

So my body can be laid down to rest?

Can you just sit by me, so I have something to look at,

We can stay silent, we don't have to chat...

How much longer? How much?

Until my body, bugs will infest,

How many more minutes until I take my last breathe?
