Burnt Heart

I waited for you to come to me
and take me away.
I waited in the rain,
to smile with you today.

I burned a hole for you
to enter into my heart.
I didn't know that from that same hole
you would depart.

I cried for you
and washed my tears.
With you, I felt free
and lost all fears.

But waiting soon took forever
and I was left to myself.
Without your love
I could not have dealt.

So that day, I burnt a hole
but the hole was not in my heart.
