Another Broken Dream

by Kimberly Day   Mar 8, 2005

Why did you have to come into our lives?
Our family had just begun to strive.
But then you came with your promises of love,
You were my mom's prince carrying a white dove.
You uprooted us from our home,
God why couldn't you have just left us alone!?
You married my mother,
Promising to God that you'd be here forever.
But you didn't even love her,
Used her for money and tried to get a little Terry.
At least she broke one of your dreams.

You made my mother's dream of a loving future seem real,
Hehe, and I thought real men don't steal.
You broke her heart and didn't even care,
You walked out on all of us.
And even though it's better now that you're gone,
It doesn't numb the pain,
Of another broken dream.

You were abusive and cruel,
You're lucky I didn't know the real you.
I could murder you with my bare hands,
Slit your throat and feel your blood spill,
I could force your last breath out of your body,
And never feel one tiny bit of remorse.
But again it seems,
That can be nothing but,
Another broken dream.

I will hate you till the day I die.
I will never forget how you made my mother cry.
I will not forget how you hurt my brother and sister,
Nor how you stole my mother's will to fight.
My hatred for you consumes my soul tightly.
You gave them the "perfect family",
But it was all a lie,
Look at how time flys.
But the pain still remains,
The lingering pain,
Of yet another broken dream.
