You Were There

by Dayna   Mar 8, 2005

From the day we came together
You never left my side
Always there, like my strength and courage

You were there
With me
When I learned to ride a bike
The first time I skated

You were there
When I broke my arm
Started a snowball fight
When I learned my aunt died

Always there for me to see
Dirty, comfy, and old
But now you’re falling apart
I’ve grown just too big

My sneakers went everywhere with me
I would wear no other shoe
But now I must go buy another
Pair to make memories with

Yes, you guys! That's right! I wrote a poem about my sneakers! None of it is based on true experiences, though. I had to do an assignment for my creative writing class, and this is what I came up with. I know it's a little odd, but hey, a lot of things in this world are odd.
