Nightly Guardian Angel (part one)

by Jacklyn   Mar 9, 2005

She lay on her side,
As she watched out her window,
At a starry sky,

Tears filled her eyes,
Because she was thankful to be alive,
Because she knew soon she saw going to die,
Because cancer was taking her life.

She was only twelve,
But already she knew pain of Hell,
She knew the cost of hospital bills,
She knew what she was putting her family through,

Her childhood was lost,
Never did she do what normal kids done,
She was separated from the rest,
Because cancer was controlling her life,
She kept trying to beat it but it always came back,

As her guardian angel jumped on her bed,
Curled up near hear hand,
He purred to her sweetly,
Bringing her comfort and peace,

This was a nightly routine,
So she would fall asleep,
Night after night,
He would lie by her side,

But the cancer kept fighting back,
Weakening her every night,
When she ended up at the hospital,
She was no longer aloud to go home,

She cried herself to sleep,
Because she knew what this meant,
No body told her she was going to die,
They didn’t have to, it was shown within their eyes,

The eyes drained of hope,
All the positive talked fill the room,
But she listened past the words,
She listened to the tone,
Which had death written all over,

The talks with all the relatives,
To show her she’ll be missed,
But deep down inside she knew,
Death will help all their stress disappear,

Pictures of her family surrounded the hospital bed,
It was mean to remind her she’s loved,
But all she saw was a girl with no hair,
All she saw was the pain she experienced,

All she saw was the family that would be happy to live life normally,
But since she had cancer she interfered,
All she saw was a little girl in constant pain,
A little girl with a life so shortly lived.
