Lifting Darkness Briefly

by JustAFoolInLove   Mar 10, 2005

I glance out the window
To gloomy darkness
And look away in disgust
For I can’t stand this scenery
It reminds me of my life
Always dark
Never light
I wait for daylight
And tell myself to hold on
Only an hour of two left
But I know this lie is deceptive
As I’ve been waiting for daylight
For fourteen long years

As I blink, I tingle
And I know what to do
My head whips back toward the window
In time to see it bright
To see a burning picture,
Giving hope for life
And it tells me to go on
I then do something new;
My lips curl into a smile,
For the first time in years,
At a brilliant flash of light
That seared the night sky,
Giving challenge calls to stars
And beckoning me forward
To the task at hand

    -sigh-

How cute. I'm assuming you were around 14 when you wrote this. Which would really...wow.

I was probably 14 too though.
Oh...how those were the days, lol.
