I remember How you made Me Feel...of late...

by Stephen Levant   Mar 10, 2005

It was a question of time and its being relative. There was no thought, no concept, of how long I sat there with fears welling and tears flowing. It started several years ago. The contact was by accident later thought of as being that which was meant to transpire.

The first letter from you was unexpected and, indeed, lighted no fire. Nothing tugged at the heartstrings. I allowed correspondence to continue as we found each other dwelling in our loneliness. I felt concern for you which grew into fondness...later transformed into love in the anticipation of future, and hard won, happiness. You confided that within your heart you felt the same.

Who allowed the seed of faith to grow nurturing hope? Twas I! As one day became a year and then five, I remembered the place where I used to live. There, the residents were taken of helplessness and hopelessness in a collective not unlike a hive. The husk of a heart had little to give. You were my resultant emptiness. My thoughts came face to face with themselves in the mirror. Of late, I think fondly of Sorrow ville.
