Put Out My Light

by Leah   Mar 10, 2005

I've tried being black,
I've tried being white,

I've tried staying wrong,
But I'm always so right.

I've tried staying happy,
But to many, put me down,

The lying smile, I wear,
Always seems to turn upside down.

I've tried making friends,
Not hiding my face,
But life in this world,
Is an unhappy place.

I've done gracious deeds,
I've also done hazardous,
I've never actually been in love,
But in one hundred times lust.

I've always loved pink,
But, now, I'm fond of black,
I'm now into drugs,
Like weed and crack.

I don't know, what to do anymore,
If anyone trys to get closer to me,
I'll cut up my body,
And you'll find the blood,
On a ocean shore...

I've done everything,
That I could do,
But I don't want anyone,
Close to me,
If I can't come close to you.

I've done everything,
In this world I could do,
But your heart was locked,
I didn't handle a key...

So if you please have the time,
can you do me a favour?
Can you cut my throat, with an electric razor?

If you won't kill me,
Then I'll kill myself,
My hands are unclean,
Dirty with filth.

I've tried staying happy,
But to many, put me down,

The lying smile, I wear,
Always seems to turn upside down.

Now all these days,
My mask, wears a frown...

I've tried being black.
I've tried being white.

Can you blow out my candle?
Can you put out my light?
