It Cant Get "Awkward"

He’s become so much more to me than I ever expected.
It wasn’t supposed to go this far.
I’m not supposed to be emotionally involved.

I know this sounds stupid,
As if he’s just like all the rest.
But I know he’s not.
I’ve cried for him.

All I want,
Is for once,
Just once,
To be the girl
Not the friend.
For him to like me as much as I like him.

But he could never know,
Things would get “awkward”
As they always do.

    thank you everyone for reading my poetry, its a great thing. Yeah, this poem is, obviously, about a guy i like. But he doesnt like me back, im just his friend. Why does that always seem to happen?.... anyway, thanks again!
