Had a dream last night
that you were mine
my everything
'til the end of time

Summer night
at the movies
had you right there
you sat and held my hand
when I got scared

We ran through my front yard
played in the rain
good-byes were far too hard
you tried to stay

'Til my dad sent you home
'bout twelve o'clock, I think
then I'd sit by the phone

We'd talk the night away
discussing everything
our favorite songs

the happiness

Soon summer had to end
and we were back to school again
back to classes, games, and friends
another year would soon begin

First football game

stands were full
we laughed, we cheered

September's air was getting cold
our breaths were there to see
your jacket smelled like your cologne
when you gave it to me

Then we got to the dance
I couldn't, but I tried
you vowed to teach me how
so you stayed by my side

Got slightly better then
I'll never dance like you
as long as you're my partner
then any dance will do

Fall carnival
you won me
the biggest teddy bear
it took you half an hour
you didn't seem to care

We rode the carousel
but I had to beg you
I swore I'd never tell
I think you liked it too

Went to your house to study
my book report was due
never got past the title
all I wanted was you

Wound up watching TV
fought over the remote all night
you always seemed to beat me
so I gave up the fight

So we watched "The Simpsons"
instead of "7th Heaven"
and I sat next to you
'til it was 'bout eleven

I said I had to go
But I never wanted to
we kissed once, and I left
only to think of you

Got you to watch a chick flick
I swear I saw you cry
"your eyes were watering"
"you were sick"
I still think those were lies

Caught a glimpse of your yearbook
lying lonely in its space
turned to our page to take a look
you'd drawn a heart around my face

We were 'bout to kiss good-bye
when my mom woke me up
it's back to my real life
we're no longer in love

Back to English class
that report's still due, for sure
I never got it done
but there's still the class before

I just wish you knew
what I'd go through
to find a way
to be with you
