The Way He Shook His Hair

by Nat the dreamer   Mar 11, 2005

The stars are so much sweeter
Reflected in his eyes.
But eyes can be deceiving,
A blessing in disguise.

On her first day of school
She could not help but stare
The boy of her dreams was in front of her
But he did not know she was there.

She loved the freckles on his nose
And the way he shook his hair
He had someone else
And she just could not compare

She never had the confidence
To find the right words to say
She’d practice them over and over
But forget them the next day.

Every time he passes by
Her knees always go weak
He leaves her breathless
She can’t even begin to speak.

They exchanged a few words
In class the other day.
“Did you do the homework,
That was assigned yesterday?”

His voice could compare
To a sweet symphony
As the words come together
Slowly and gently.

She’d give anything
To be his wish tonight
To be the one he dreams about
And cannot let out of his sight.

Sooner or later
She had to let go
But Someday she would regret
She never let her feelings show

She was scared of rejection
and for what he did see.
His eyes never glanced her way
Maybe she never let them be.

But eyes can look so distant
Yet so full of love
Eyes are the windows to the soul
and should not be taken advantage of

Maybe he really did notice her
Maybe he really did care
But she did not let him see
What was really there.

Sometimes you have to
Look the person in the eyes
And tell them you love them
Even if it takes them by surprise

You do not want to regret
What you could be
Instead just make him notice you
And make sure you let him see.
