She Was So Sure

by Nat the dreamer   Mar 12, 2005

She's so pretty
She's so sure
She's so loveable
and so pure.

All the boys surround her
When she tosses her hair.
She flashes them a smile,
A smile so sweet and fair.

I can't help but wonder
I can't help but stare
How can she be so perfect?
And me be so bare?

She was class president
She was homecoming queen
She was the leading role
the best actress you've ever seen.

She was so amazing
and had so many friends
Everyone wanted to be her
as she setted all the trends

I can't help but think
I can't help but cry
How can she have everything
even if she doesn't try.

She won most stylish
She won most sweet
She won best student
She didn't even have to cheat

She was on all the announcements
At all the football games
She made everyone feel special
She rembered everyone's names.

I can't help but be jealous
I can't help but wonder why
How can she be so popular?
And I be so shy?

She was always on top
She was always the best
She was always the winner
of every single contest.

I was excited when I saw her after school
I couldn't even pretend
This was my chance to redeem myself
and become her best friend.

I can't help but look at her
i can't help but stare
She had a tear in her eye
and I wondered why it was there

She looked so distant
She looked so scared
She looked like an angel
but i wasn't at all prepared

I asked what was wrong
She looked at me with eyes so sad
She got a bad grade on her test
and was too scared to show her dad

I couldn't help but notice
I couldn't help but care
the bad grade she got was only a B
my grades couldn't even compare.

She then started to cry
She then started to plead
She then started to shake in fear
an A plus she would need.

I put my hand on her shoulder
And asked her why a B was bad
She looked at me full of tears
"Well you don't know my dad."

I couldn't help but notice
I couldn't help but care
For when I put my hand on her shoulder
it was bruised, cold, and bare.

She was so hopeless
She was in much need
She was so weak
as she stood there to plead.

It was then when she broke down
and told me everything
her dad would be mad tonight
making her forearm sting.

I couldn't help but cry
I couldn't help but pray
Why did this beautiful girl
go through so much everyday?

Then it was time for her to go
when her dad came
she wiped her tears
and I did the exact same

It was then I started to realize
My own beauty within
I was so lucky
I always have been

Sometimes the happiest people you know
are the saddest you will ever meet
Never look past the unnoticed things
Not everyone's world is complete.
