God Bless the Cook

God Bless the Cook

Casually I lay my spoon aside
Wondering where I now could hide?
Too conspicuous to take in stride
That now I hurt her culinary pride.

Swallowing was hard enough,
Though straightening my grimace was equally tough!
Now to avoid her expression gruff
I lied and said “That’s very good stuff!”

A cook’s pride can be a caustic thing
When a compliment her creations do not bring;
One’s life can balance on a string
When thanks from pursed lips do not spring.

    Good for you this is so true....Nothing is worse then when you have slaved away cooking...and then you get told
    how you should have done it,or that it tastes terrible...On several occasions I have hung up the apron and said you do it...So nice to hear that you understand...I love this poem
