Untitled

How can it be?

Happy so happy one moment,

Then I wake to find a dagger though my breast.

So much for being happy once again.

Tears run from dull eyes down pale cheeks

And fall onto idle hands in an empty lap.

Remembrance of last night when our words touched in the cold damp air,

Does little to stop their flow,

But offers the best defense.

My tattered heart lies broken in it’s tarnished ivory cage.

Memories of deeds long past plague my mind,

And darken my spirit.

I pray for peace and receive just enough,

To keep my soul from leaping of the edge.

I’m better now I suppose though still longing to,

Smile once more.

God bless the one who brightens my face,

As well as my soul.
