My Boa Constrictor

by Just Sierra   Mar 13, 2005

Squeeze the life from me
My lovely boa constrictor
As far as I’m concerned
You were always the victor

I never stood a chance
Against your deadly glare
I’ll never try to fight you
This is true, I swear

For when the day is done
You can have your way
Steal youth from my skin
Your sins begin to weigh

You wrap around my wrist
And gleam like the night
You take away from me
So you will be alright

This leaves me in a fix
As I watch my hand turn blue
What do I get in return
For my loyalty to you?

Am I just a pawn you use
To move across your board?
Am I of a lower rank
To you my good lord?

While you do your job
I will do mine too
Look in the mirror and realize
How much I gained from you

The mirror showed me everything
It showed me the truth
That I’m not getting anything
I’m wasting my precious youth

For 30 years I watch myself
Wither each day behind the mirror
And I begin to notice
That things are getting clearer
The night skies are so pitch black
I feel like I can see
The truth isn’t far behind me
But there’s nothing I can guarantee

Each day of mine
Just wears on like the next
But with each day I become stronger
No longer am I one of your objects

And someday soon you will see
That I’ve become so strong
And then with fear you’ll back away
From what you’ve done to me for so long

When you least expect
I’ll snap right back at you
I’ll drink the blood of which you stole
Until your skin is blue

Then I’ll be the predator
A new change from being prey
And I hope that you can only see
The nights I saw of gray
