A Black Silence

by broken angel   Mar 13, 2005

She was always the queit girl
You would never know she was there

She had no enemies, she had no friends
She'd just silently sit and stare

Like a shadow on the wall
Always present, and always gone

But because of her simple silence
No one knew there was something wrong

The school bell rings at 4 o'clock
She quickly has to walk home

No televison, e-mail, or movies
No talking with friends on the phone

Daddy comes home from work
The yelling and anger start

She locks herself in her room
She hides alone in the dark

Daddy yells at Mommy
Mommy and Daddy fight

Daddy hits Mommy too hard
Mommy's not alright

Daddy leaves, goes to the bar
While Mommy's on the floor

Her body lying in a red puddle
She's not breathing anymore

The silent girl silently sits
For the first time in her life she crys

Hugging the body of her lifeless mom
She asks her Daddy why
