Pierced Wings

by Alexandra C   Mar 14, 2005

You think you know everything,
that you can read me like a book
Well go ahead,
and take a look

Am I pleasing, to your liking?
Will I do, am I fit?
You drew me near with whispers of temptations
Then, like a snake, revealed your fangs and bit

Jagged metal that tore through
what was left of me.
You shoved me into a black desert
and left me there to bleed

Now the scars are there,
and it’s like you wonder why.
Your fingers reach down and pry open my wounds
The pain is unbearable but this time, I refuse to cry

You begin again,
to put deceitful whispers in my ears.
But now it’s impossible to ignore,
the pain you’ve inflicted through the years

The doors are shut
Don’t even try
You’ve taken all of me
My well of adoration is dry

I’ll fill it up again
But not for your use
You can’t stop me from moving on,
this is the path I choose

I’m walking onward
And never looking back
I’ll find someone to make up for
The love you lacked

The truth has been uncovered
And this is what I found,
You can no longer keep my wings
pierced to the ground
