Gem On The Beach

* This is true, by the way ...

I had a dream the other night
I sat on the beach in town
Just taking in the beauty
As I watched the sun go down

And in the dream I began to dig
Deep into the soft hot sand
I didn't dig very far when suddenly
I was holding a ruby in my hand

My favorite gem, right there
I couldn't imagine it's worth
Just that it was the most beautiful thing
On the whole of the earth

I woke in the morning
Didn't remember what I dreamt
So I didn’t stop to ponder
What it could have meant

That afternoon I was on that beach
Sitting with you on the sand
The sun was bright, I smiled
As you took my hand

And I remembered the dream
The gem on the beach I’d found
I looked at you, and where I was
We sat on the exact same spot of ground

And I realized that you
Were the gem on the beach, with such worth
I could never put a price on you
You're the most beautiful one on this earth.
