Once Upon a Time

by Just Sierra   Mar 15, 2005

Once upon a time
In a land not too far away
There lived a happy girl
Who smiled everyday

She lived with her mother
Her parents were divorced
She didn’t really have a choice
On her mother she was forced

Her mother was a good one
A happy one, thereof
For whenever that little girl was near
There was a pure sense of love

They lived so very happily
Together, hand in hand, they walked
Her mother was so cheery
She always smiled when she talked

And one day when the snow fell
After a cold winter night
Together they went sledding
You would think everything was alright

Sometimes they’d ride together
Others they’d take turns
The last that sled ever saw
Her mother, she never returns

For the road was icy
Yet those cars would ride
Together they went sledding down that hill
The car rammed into their side

The mother yelped in shock
And then she closed her eyes
There was no happy ending
Whenever the good guy dies

The girl woke up a week later
In a hospital bed
Her father was at her side
And told her the mother was dead

Day and night she’d dream
She’d see everything
Play again and again in her head
Oh the nightmares the memories would bring

She lived with her father
For seven long years
Being tortured by her life
Never giving up on the tears

The story never ended
The nightmares went on
But as for the heartache
It was never done

The fallen face of remorse
Would appear in every dream
Only to awaken to more nightmares
To fall in her father’s regime

He was a tyrant
A thief of purity
He raped the friends she used to have
Never offered security

She walked in many a time
To see him nailing her
She’d walk right out silently
Not knowing what he’d infer

She’d go to her room
Think how someone could be so vicious
How anyone could be so coldhearted
So taunting and malicious

She’d lose her friends
And never really knew why
But because of her father
She’d never really try

Until she was fourteen
She never once thought a bad thought
But beneath all of that misery
For happiness she sought

She hoped that she could find it
Somewhere inside of her skin
She tell herself she’d find it soon
She started cutting herself then

She watched the blood pour out
Like a fountain it would go
She searched for happiness
Somewhere in the flow

But her thoughts weren’t suicidal
As long as there would be that day
She’d tell herself long and hard
Someday she’d get away

Her father got drunk one night
And put her early to bed
Her laid on top of her
Didn’t let go of her head

He hit her hard onto the ground
Through her mouth she was bleeding
She tried to talk him out of him
Wondering where the night was leading

Finally when his anger was out
About her mother’s death
He laid her down and touched her
Feeling his damned breath

That night she lost it all
The one thing he should protect
He knew nothing about what he did
And what it might affect

Her future, she thought to herself
“What about it anymore?
What’s the point of living
When it’s everything you abhor?”

She hated him so deeply
She hated him so much
She hated that lingering breath he left
She hated his cold touch

The little cried her last tear
The last one she'd ever see
For she cut herself one cut too deep
She set her soul free

*I'm so sorry this isn't all that good. I got side tracked and came to finish the rest later...sorry.*
