Pour Another Shot

by Tara   Mar 15, 2005

Tipping up the bottle
To pour another shot
I set it down half empty -
Still hasn't hit the spot.

Cool glass touches
My trembling lips
The power to forget
At my fingertips.

With a deep breath
And a small sigh
I tip it back
And close my eyes.

Warm liquid drowns,
Seeping through my veins -
Encompassing all,
Suffocating the pains.

Mind getting too slow
To take it all in
This bottle's become
My one lasting friend.

What's left to do
But drink some more?
Just like all those
Times before.

Tipping up the bottle
To pour another shot
I sit here empty
With all that I've got.

This is something that effects people everyday in life and you pretty much explained it exactly. Word choice simple and effective, short lines I liked. To me it wasn't a best that I have read from you because I just couldn't feel too much emotion coming from it. None the less a good read. ~Mel
