Just One More Drink

by Tara   Mar 15, 2005

Beer, wine, or liquor
Who cares -
Which ones quicker?
They're making me sicker
Sick of it all
Watching me
Fall....
Down...
Slowly.....
Too slow
Drink up
Shut up
Stop talking
Stop thinking
Can't stop drinking
Looking so glad
While feeling so sad
Again and again
Becoming
My only
Lasting friend
Thoughts randomized
Feelings compromised
Soul shattered
So battered
Bottom's up
Messing up
Save me
See me
Know me
Leave me
All the same
All the pain
Relax
Take a drink
Just don't think
Numb your mind
Leave it all
Behind
Almost gone but
I'm still here
Consciousness
I fear
One last drink
Don't want to think
Tossed to the wall
Just watch me fall
Tears fill my eyes
Laugh at my cries
Pass me the bottle
Don't ask me why
Just one more drink
Then let me die

I liked this, I found the short lines of one or two words to be really effective because it made the flow, flow, nicely. A dark poem which had a deep meaning behind it of something that i'm sure so many people suffer and deal with everyday in life. I enjoyed reading this. Interesting. Well done. ~Mel
