The aids of Africa

by Jacqui Armstrong   Mar 16, 2005

The water glistened in the sun
His hard day had just begun
He entered the old dirty slum
He did everything for his mum

She lies so still next to the wall
Her body thin her bones so small
He cooks the food he cleans the clothes
He helps with everything he knows

At only the young age of five
He helps his family to survive
As through the door his sister trips
With grazed up knees and displaced hips

Their mum wont be around for long
But still the kids keep going strong
Life in Africa is not like here.
They have no money, drugs don’t appear.

Wow. Very powerful poem. My Grandma recently went to Africa and is working with world hunger, so she saw a lot of that. She's gotten me into helping too. That was a wonderful poem. I really like your work.
