Like a stranger,
he walks by
knowing her pain, the strain.
Purposely he misses his bus
just to walk her home
wanting to tell her how much she's worth.
only he can see
only he knows.
A smile broadens across his face
as she turns to say goodbye
he takes a long deep breathe as he captures her beauty
he's swept away.
only he knows she doesn't deserve
the suffering
the bruises upon her ego
monster scars on her young heart,
only he knows her tears.
it would be real easy a simple change in life
if she gave up what's holding her back
to meet the place where she belongs.
Dear god she prays find me the light to guide me through this tangled dark mess
make me a bird so i can fly far, far away from my troubles.
He sits alone in a classroom so full
and yet he feels alone.
Gently carving her name so beautiful in his desk.
Hoping for another smile as she passes him by,
yet all he's given is a frown
to hide away herself from the world
and the mark across her pale skin
What beast on earth could dirty this girl
so pure and warming.
who could hurt a sweet flower like this.
Soon you'll be free to fly he whispers
like the bird you describe in your prayers
soar through the high winds
leave behind your fears
She turns around looks at no one else
but straight into his eyes
like a long journey she's waited to find him
someone to share her fight.
Grasping his hand clinging so tight
listening to each other's breathe
so out of control to be finally as one
pain no more to put her in her place
paradise found in his embrace.
