The One She Loves

She sees in him all the answers
To each one of her prayers
She'd die a thousand deaths
Just to know that he cares

Is there anything she can do
To open his eyes to see her that way
A way to rock her gently in love
Oh how she aches for that day

She dreams and she writes
Wishing, hoping for his affection
Trying to be a goddess for him
Striving always for perfection

She wishes away her hours
Lost in what she wishes could be
Crying at night, asking
'Will this boy ever love me?'

Her smiles radiate before him
She spread out all her charms
Eager to have him take her up
And hold her in his arms

But why is it he doesn't see
Or does he choose to ignore
She'll never know, he’s moving away
Now she can't even see him anymore

Her silence was her sentence
If only those words were said
And not written, she may have had him
She dreams he walks away … the words leave her head

He turns to look at her
Is that a sparkle in his eye?
He walks towards her, silently
Please, don't pass her by

He kisses her on the cheek
Smiles and holds her to him
She sits up in bed, crying
Wishing she'd never kept it in

He's gone, she's alone
And she will always wonder through tears
If he ever knew, if it could ever have been
What a secret to keep for so many years …
