Behind friendship's disguise..

I loved you since the first time
we talked that day,
can we somehow cross this line
from friendship to more one day?

Since our eyes first made contact,
when I'm around you
I don't know how to act.

So many feelings for you inside,
so much I'm keeping in so you won't find
the true feelings I had all this time
that I keep trying to hide.

I'm hiding behind this mask
masquerading as your best friend,
afraid to show my feelings at last
and now I can no longer pretend

The time came to blaze
but you were down and on your knees,
I listened to your problem that troubled thee
and suddenly I knew one thing

I cannot tell her my true intentions
this is the best for her own protection
she needs me most as a friend
and at least for now, to her heart I will tend
