Not Looking for Forgiveness

by EpithetPoet   Mar 19, 2005

His sweet breath surrounds me
Enveloping me in a drifting cloud
Singing me His sweetest lullaby
What my mortal ears would allow

"Fall asleep my child
Rest your weary mind
Walk in my sacred garden
Embrace all you find"

"Lift you above the stars
To bathe in the milky way
Cleansing you of all the sins
You committed every day"

"Eat the fruit that binds you
Forever to the tree
You receive all this and more
for a simple 'forgive me'"

His breath becomes ice
To easily break in two
As i plummet to the ground
Where from i so easily flew

Land safely on my bed
Where the marks still lie
Waiting for the inevitable chance
Of when i do die

I do not need forgiveness
For the sins i do commit
This is how i am
And no one is perfect
