Mom's Only Son

by *~broken~hearted~*   Mar 19, 2005

Running around in circles
They don't know where they are
But they have nothing to fear
For their mother isn't far

These little puppies romp and play
In the midday sun
They run around all day long
And they're having lots of fun

Sadly, this fun will end
For they must be sold
Their mother becomes saddened
She wants her puppies to hold

Anyway, selling day is here
They all leave one by one
But in the end one is left
The runt, her only son

They both stay together
as happy as can be
but sometimes Mom is sad
She misses her other three

She remembers them being born
And their first walk too
She remembers little Annalee
Falling in Owner's shoe

Though the girls are gone
She still has her boy
He pounces on her with surprise
Looks like he's found a new toy

She fights with him a little
Then he runs away
She knows that it is time
He gets his shots today

Many years later
This puppy and Mom
Have settled down a bit
They are much more calm

One sad day, Mom gets sick
She falls down and dies
Little pup lies next to her
And also slowly shuts his eyes
