From the British

by Daniel J   Mar 20, 2005

In London I dwell;
so the events of the palace shall i tell,
upon that day,
when the travesty occured in Boston Bay.

The Americans you see,
though colonialists they be,
decided they wanted to be free!

To prove a point,
they started to pour into the sea,
our very best tea!

Such a travesty,
was not known to me,
what savages they must be.

Send in the troops!
The red coat best!
His Majesty's army will go on a quest!

And yet now we hear,
a further tragedy,
our troops were expelled from the ground that they held.

Wot wot?
Independence granted to the west?
Your Majesty, is this for the best?

I wouldn't say the americans won,
for their military prowess hardly shone,
our troops just wanted to be gone!

For the west was a savage place,
far from civilisation and peace,
and the lovely London streets.

Since then - so It appears to me,
I cannot fail to see;
there has been advancement in their technology.

For example,
The savage west has electricity,
and some amount of stability.

And yet I still take pride,
though stable they be,
the pound is stronger than their dollar will ever be!
------
"Wot Wot! Tea please!"
- Yes, your majesty!
a British look at independence ;-)

I think this poem is great. seeing it all from the eyes of a brit. i like it when someone isn't afraid to stand up for one thing or another when they believe in it. even if i am an american with a bloodline going to washington and many of the revolutionary men.
